The theme of the conference is “Rethinking Global Rules – Opportunities and Challenges for the Legal Industry”. During the conference, in-depth discussions will be focused on the opportunities and challenges faced by the legal profession in a new era, cooperation between Chinese and foreign lawyers under the “Belt and Road” initiative as well as channels for resolving international finance, investment and trade disputes.
This is the first time Shanghai will host a distinguished annual conference of a major international law organization since the port of Shanghai was opened to international trade in 1843. This will play a very important role in propelling Shanghai toward becoming a world-class metropolis governed by the rule of law, toward creating Shanghai’s foreign legal services brand and providing the legal support for building Shanghai’s centers of international finance, economics, trade, shipping and scientific innovation.
